    What is Citation Studio?

Citation Studio is a free tool that takes a thesis, dissertation or paper you have already written and helps you cite it correctly. It flags the sentences that make a claim needing a citation, searches over 250 million real papers (OpenAlex + Crossref), and builds a properly formatted bibliography in any of 6 styles. You choose every source — nothing is auto-inserted — so the citations are genuinely yours. This is for citing your finished work correctly, not for evading similarity or AI checks.

    How Citation Studio works

    1. Paste or upload your draft. We highlight the sentences that make a factual or literature claim and should carry a citation.
    2. Pick real papers. For each flagged sentence we suggest DOI-verified papers — from your own saved library first, then from OpenAlex and Crossref. You decide which to cite.
    3. Build your bibliography. Citation Studio splices the in-text citations in and generates a clean, de-duplicated reference list in your chosen style.
    4. Download. Export the cited text and bibliography as a Word file, or copy any single citation.

    Who it's for

Students and researchers who wrote their thesis or paper themselves but haven't referenced it yet, anyone converting notes into a properly cited draft, and writers who want to import an existing Zotero or Mendeley library (BibTeX/RIS) and reuse it.

Citation Studio — frequently asked questions

    Is Citation Studio free?
Yes — Citation Studio is completely free with a LivoDraft account. Paper search, citation formatting, library import and bibliography building carry no charge.
Does it work with a thesis I already wrote?
Yes. Paste or upload your finished draft and it flags the sentences that need a citation, then finds real papers so you can reference them correctly.
    Which citation styles are supported?
APA, MLA, Harvard, IEEE, Chicago and Vancouver — with in-text citations and a matching reference list in each.
    Are the papers real?
Yes. Every suggested source is a real, DOI-verified paper from OpenAlex or Crossref — never fabricated. Citation Studio only stores public metadata and abstracts, never copyrighted full text.
Can I import my Zotero or Mendeley library?
Yes. Paste or upload a BibTeX (.bib) or RIS (.ris) export from Zotero, Mendeley or EndNote into "My Papers", and export your library back to BibTeX for Overleaf/LaTeX.
